Falling Water
Khyati(wife/love) is an architect. Last weekend she made me drive 6 hours to visit a place called Falling Water, Pennsylvania. Some of Khyati's friends had also joined us for this trip. Marta an architect and Joanna an interior designer. Marta is from Montenegro and Joanna from Australia. We all were from different backgrounds, different places. I was not sure how this trip would go. I was very skeptical.
We started on Saturday morning and first visited a place called Longwood Gardens near Philadelphia. It was interesting. After grabbing some lunch over there we then headed to a winery. I am a wine lover. I tried a couple of wines but didn't like anything that they had. So I decided not to buy anything from them. We then headed to a place called Ursine, PA where our B&B was located. We reached there somewhere around 8pm. I didn't like the B&B that much but didn't have a choice. After sometime when we decided to go out for dinner, the owner told us that there are just 2 restaurants nearby. I was not sure if we would find something vegetarian to eat. However, I was lucky that one of them was a Pizza joint. Like "Vada Pav", pizza has now become like a staple food for me. After grabbing some dinner we headed to the B&B. I was very tired so Khyati and I decided to crash right away.
In the morning we headed to Falling water, PA. I have seen a lot of houses, but I have not seen anything like this before in my entire life. Falling water a master piece created by none other than Frank Lloyd Wright. He is simply amazing. The house just blends with the nature. His style of architecture is called Organic. Some of the things that he has done in this house are simply amazing. It doesn't have any shape. It's just like one more tree in the jungle. When you are in the house you can listen to the noise of falling water, birds chirping, the wind. When you go are in the balcony it is as if you are on one of the branches of the tree. Its amazing.
So even though I had to drive for 6 hours I guess it was worth it. I am an avid traveler and I feel if you like to travel and check out new places then you should definitely put this on your list.
Choices
Earlier I had chosen the title of this blog as "Dilemma". However, when I looked up the dictionary, for the meaning of Dilemma, it says this - "a situation requiring a choice between equally undesirable alternatives". I was looking for a word, which says,"equally desirable" rather than "undesirable". So I decided to pick the word Choices. Life is full of choices and sometimes it can bring unnecessary stress. Why is it that most of the time we worry about - what other people will feel? Is it alright if I do this. What will other people say? We try to keep everyone happy. Why? Why shouldn't we just keep ourselves happy?
I guess most of the Indians I have come across are like this. I am not sure why we are like this. I guess, may be it is because of our upbringing. I am not sure what is the right thing to do. Should someone always put his/her interest before anyone else or should he/she think worry about everyone else?
Sometimes I feel screw everyone, I should just think about my self. However, a little later I feel that it's not right. I am not sure in the end what is the right thing to do. But, I hope I am able to make the right decision for my family.
